When Kevin Rudd was deposed he stood very tall in my estimation and said that he had been a member of the Labor Party for 26 years. As you point out he is a Labor man, I think, before all else, and he is clearly showing that with a great deal of dignity. Contrary to the opinions of the MSM he is articulate, committed and "cool". Revenge is best served cold and I don't believe it will be for the Labor Party.Pipnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8434369190746987531.post-69125699639477814022010-08-06T13:56:25.693+10:002010-08-06T13:56:25.693+10:00sounding much more positive today Mr Grog, good to...sounding much more positive today Mr Grog, good to see.
For a moment there I was thinking 'hello we have run out of Grog'Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8434369190746987531.post-87686773485670530672010-08-06T13:50:42.609+10:002010-08-06T13:50:42.609+10:00Will Julia be resurrecting Churchill next? I feel that the clever dicks from NSW and Victoria did not take into account the resentment of Queenslanders toward the southern states...homes of the immigrating 'Mexicans'. The State of Origin football shows how the Queenslanders lift their game when opposed to 'Mexicans'...as you would say, displaying 'big brother syndrome'.
I watched Rudd during his live press statement and he looked terrific...perhaps a little tubby after an enforced rest. His voice had strength, he seemed so positive and top of everything...indeed, he looked 'prime ministerial'.
It is possible to work cooperatively and effectively with someone you can't stand, if you are prepared to be mature about it and see the common enemy.Frank Alleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03199277532022132103noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8434369190746987531.post-42894725505385621472010-08-06T09:12:11.114+10:002010-08-06T09:12:11.114+10:00vote1maxine - my post does explain it. But once he was dumped, QLD got mad that one of their own was being picked on.

There is no logic to it, it's just how it is. Families are allowed to fight and argue, but when an outsider starts criticising a family member, well everyone in the family rallies round and defends them.

Or as John Lennon said once, it was ok for him to criticise The Beatles, but that didn't mean Mick Jagger was allowed to do it.

Andrew Bartlett - yep sport is where it is most acute.Greg Jerichohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04956402439870441083noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8434369190746987531.post-53133379390352265302010-08-06T07:02:50.659+10:002010-08-06T07:02:50.659+10:00Well said. I think the dignity of his actions stand to assist the interpretations of the ALP's action in deposing him.

I note this morning that John Howard has popped up to support Tony, with any luck that might help people remember why we voted the coalition out last time.

There is still a long road to go, and to some extent if Gillard does get across the line she should look at some of the mistakes Rudd made and try to fix them early into a new parliament.

I think your prior post of JWH's ghost tells us where she should startSMhttp://sminney.posterous.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8434369190746987531.post-67146286379055737432010-08-06T01:00:58.147+10:002010-08-06T01:00:58.147+10:00Thanks for your great blog, I marvel at how incisi...Thanks for your great blog, I marvel at how incisive you are day after day.

Whatever Kevin Rudd's ultimate motivation, there is something to marvel at in a man who can be so dignified in the circumstances. If he can help lock down QLD, then the Libs can’t win. And that’s reality."
