"As long as the boats keep coming more beds will be needed, people are going to continue to spend longer in detention, and the costs are going to continue to escalate."Jaegernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8434369190746987531.post-39735520675259012622011-03-04T07:48:51.897+11:002011-03-04T07:48:51.897+11:00This week is the first week since going back to wo...This week is the first week since going back to work that I am glad I missed QT. I caught it yesterday on the radio and was depressed that the debate hasnt really moved too far in a week.
I thought it funny that after Albo complained about a censure a day that the Libs had the audacity to complain about QT ending before 3.30 this week. Clearly by 3 they have demonstrated they have had enough of asking questions. Anyway now that Crhris Bowen has announced more space on the mainland for asylum seekers the Libs will be back on the stop the boat bandwagon nowSoniahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02129398639035921852noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8434369190746987531.post-31093597644242698762011-03-04T00:26:01.149+11:002011-03-04T00:26:01.149+11:00The Liberals have apparently decided that they nee...The Liberals have apparently decided that they need to destroy Australian politics in order to save it, or something. It must really piss them off that we don't have an equivalent of Fox News here (talkback and the Oz aren't quite the same) because their antics would play really well on a Murdoch TV channel devoted to eliminating the possibility of intelligent discourse.Lnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8434369190746987531.post-59641801352062953302011-03-03T23:19:09.821+11:002011-03-03T23:19:09.821+11:00Clarke and Dawe absolutely nailed QT for this week...Clarke and Dawe absolutely nailed QT for this week in thier 7.30 segment tonight, abc haven't put it up on their site yet, but when they do, have a look - not mirthful, in fact depressing, but worth a look in that oh yeah, it really was that bad kind of way.Kevnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8434369190746987531.post-36411312340967545092011-03-03T23:09:12.693+11:002011-03-03T23:09:12.693+11:00Have sent Julia's explanation on to others. It is an sad indictment on the Australian community that the coalition are considered a reasonable alternative to the Labor government. Yes they've made mistakes, although not nearly as bad as some commentators have claimed, but we have an economy that's very strong, and a Prime Minister who is now showing the mettle we expect from good leaders.

While there has been fault and poor standards of debate on both sides, anyone with an objective view has to conclude that the opposition (with their 'shockjock' cheerleaders) have dragged policy debate down to a never before experienced level.

Mary Jo Fisher, Sophie Mirabella, Peter Dutton, Christopher Pyne, Bronwyn Bishop, Cory Bernardi and Tony Abbott should take note that many now consider the likes of Wilson Tuckey moderate by comparison.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02053827468989677969noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8434369190746987531.post-13955329002220939212011-03-03T22:44:30.122+11:002011-03-03T22:44:30.122+11:00Thanks for posting Julia's explanation Grog --...Thanks for posting Julia's explanation Grog -- I'll direct people who ask me about it -- At the time I thought it a very lucid and strong argument.

It is a shame it wasn't before Q&A last Monday night. Mr Abbott quoted an ALP member when he pointed out that the ALP comprised lobotomised zombies. The PM countered by playing the race card. Would anyone care to guess the collective IQ of our esteemed representatives? I'll bet it wouldn't equal my shoe size.Sir Ian Crispnoreply@blogger.com
