Round Six: Or Things are starting to get set.

OK, there’s 8 teams on three and three, but they are not all equal.

Here’s a big prediction - After six rounds we can say that Geelong and Saint Kilda will be top 4, and Carlton, Hawks, Port and Collingwood will make the finals. The Bulldogs most likely will. I don’t think either Melbourne, West Coast, Fremantle, Essendon, North Melbourne or Richmond can conceivably make the finals. This means the Crows, Brisbane and Sydney are fighting for the final spot in the finals.

Geelong

6-0

The only surprise was that Ablett got less than 30 touches. And now they have to make do without him for at least 3 weeks. This week Sydney.

St Kilda

6-0

The Saints dispatched the Bulldogs, and place themselves as indisputably in the top 2 teams.

Carlton

3-3

Only Fev could kick 8 goals and still end the game with his head in his hands. They now play Freo at the Gold Coast.

Hawthorn

3-3

The Hawks won in the end, but I’m going to still say Carlton are looking the better team.

Port Adelaide

4-2

Far too good for the Crows. Too quick and too strong, and with the Roos and Tigers up next, should be 6-2.

7

Collingwood

3-3

The Pies played their best game of the year – but the lo0ss of Medhurst will be hard to cover this week against the Saints.

Bulldogs

3-3

The Bulldogs were never really there – and should be glad the Saints kicked 14.20 and not the other way round.

Brisbane

3-3

Brisbane were happy to be home, and happy to use the Bombers to wipe away memories of Kadinia Park.

Adelaide

3-3

The Crows got a big reality check against Port. They will struggle while their first instinct is to handball to a player standing still.

Sydney

3-3

The Swans got over the line, but had a bigger scare than they would have liked from the Tigers.

Essendon

3-3

Essendon came down for the big high of Anzac Day to the reality that they aren’t that good.

Richmond

1-5

The Tigers lost, but at least looked like a football team. Will need Richardson to play this week if they’re any chance of beating the Lions

West Coast

2-4

The Eagles have no one to blame but themselves – kicking 9.20 is not how you win games.

clip_image001[10]

14

15

Fremantle

2-4

A big win for the Dockers – coming from 23 points down at half time. Though the Eagles woeful kicking helped more than Freo’s great play. Carlton are a much bigger test.

North Melbourne

2-4

North are looking a big chance to finish bottom 4.

Melbourne

1-5

The Demons weren’t completely slaughtered by the Cats. Now they travel west to play the Eagles.
